March with NSCC at Pride - Alumni Relations | NSCC

June is Pride Month – a time to celebrate, reflect and take action.

Pride Month is not only a celebration of identity and progress, but a reminder of the importance of active allyship in the face of growing hostility and discrimination.

This is a time to celebrate the courage, resilience and joy of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

It’s also a moment that calls us to be honest: the rights, dignity and safety of queer people are being actively challenged – in legislation and in everyday spaces.

Progress is not guaranteed and it has to be chosen – again and again, by each of us.

That choice is what allyship looks like in practise.

Speak out: If you hear a harmful comment or witness someone being excluded or made to feel unwelcome, say something or let someone know if you don’t feel that you can, in the moment.

Speaking up is one of the most powerful things we can do.

A simple acknowledgement is enough to shift the moment.

Check in with one another: Active allyship doesn't end
