EventsObstetric Care in the ED (November 2 - Lunenburg, NS)
This is a 6.5-hour workshop designed for staff working in emergency departments to support the care of pregnant patients who present in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
An additonal simulation component is included in this workshop in partnership with Western Zone Clinical Nurse Educators.
Identify sources of knowledge & resources for obstetrical and newborn care.
Identify the components of an obstetric assessment.
Describe the most common presenting concerns during pregnancy: antenatal bleeding, threatened preterm labour, trauma, hypertension, and postpartum hemorrhage. threatened preterm labour, trauma, hypertension, and Demonstrate the management of an imminent birth.
Discuss the initial and ongoing assessment and care of a postpartum person and newborn.
